We are proud to celebrate our partnership with Open Cycles with the announcement of this limited offering, pairing an exclusive Black Magic Paint finish designed and painted here at our Portland, OR facility with Open’s latest generation gravel frameset. Each bike will have this unique finish, painted and polished by hand, along with a hand-selected build kit featuring the best of the best components from SRAM and ENVE Composites for the ultimate gravel adventure bike.

Exclusive Finish

Each one of these limited edition complete bikes will feature an exclusive finish designed by our artists using some of our most popular finish options. The main color of the bike is a color-shifting blue to purple pearl which changes depending on the vantage point and lighting, constantly changing and shifting, blending in nicely with the rainbow finish of the SRAM Eagle XX1 AXS cassette and chain. Beneath the beautiful shifting blue and purple lies sections of exposed uni-directional carbon fiber. Finally chrome foil accents highlight the frame and fork to tie in perfectly with the SRAM Red eTap AXS components chrome foil and uni directional carbon. To top it off we have produced custom decals for the wheels to match the design elements of the frame and Red eTap AXS components. The result is a complete bike where all of the components are not only purposely selected to be the best available for gravel riding, but one with seamless aesthetics.

Handlebar, stem, and seatpost may also be painted blue/purple to match the frame for a seamless look to the cockpit.

WI.DE.

Open’s latest and most capable frame is designed exclusively for 1X drivetrains and allows for maximum tire clearance with both 700c and 650b wheels. With 650b you can run up to a 2.4” tire that will put your hardtail to shame. With 700c wheels you can run up to a 700x46 tire for gravel as well as narrower slick tires for riding on the road. (We suggest something in the 30-35mm range.) Amazingly versatile geometry allows for great handling and ride characteristics on the road as well as on singletrack. Mounting points all over the bike allow for up to 4 water bottles, storage boxes, bags, and fenders. With the upgrade to ENVE’s adventure fork, you gain additional mounting points on either side of the fork legs and an adjustable rake/crown height to tune the ride while loaded with up to 40lbs of gear on the three pack mounts.

ENVE Composites

ENVE composites has always been our go to pick for wheels and cockpits on almost all of our custom Open builds, and for good reason, they are simply the best. Handmade in Utah, with a wheel and cockpit for every discipline, terrain, and bike/tire combo, we are able to fine tune how the bike makes contact with the ride and the terrain. For the BMP X Open WI.DE. we have chosen the G23. The G23 is a featherlight gravel wheel weighing in at 1305 grams with the ENVE hub and XDR driver is ideal for the WI.DE. as it is lightweight, strong, and versatile. It is designed with the perfect tire size range for the WI.DE, 700x35 through 700x45. The only way to improve on that is to add a second set of ENVE wheels for dedicated road slicks or a beefier 650b offroad tire (or all 3). Each bike and extra set of wheels will come with custom decals to match the design on the BMP X Open finish.

In addition to the G23, we have spec’d out the bike with a full ENVE cockpit including the new SES AR handlebar, road stem, road seatpost, and bartape. Optional ENVE upgrades include additional wheelsets, carbon water bottle cages, integrated computer mount, and the adventure fork.

SRAM Red/Eagle XX1 eTap AXS 1X Mullet

We have chosen the most advanced 12 speed 1X electronic drivetrain for the BMP X Open WI.DE. completes. The SRAM Red and Eagle XX1 eTap AXS components form a perfect combination of road and mountain drivetrains allowing for a mega wide range 12 speed Eagle XX1 AXS 10-50 tooth cassette with the narrow q factor Red AXS 1X road crankset. Shifting is performed by the Eagle XX1 eTap AXS rear derailleur. Topped off with Red eTap AXS dropbar shifters/brakes and the Centerline XR 160mm centerlock rotors. Not only is this this most advanced electronic drivetrain on the market, but the Red eTap AXS and Eagle XX1 AXS components tie in seamlessly to the custom finish and ENVE wheels on this bike with their beautiful chrome foil accents and the rainbow oil slick finish of the chain and cassette. For those that enjoy monitoring their power output in training, there is a power meter upgrade available for the Red AXS 1X crank that integrates into the spider.

Each one of our limited edition BMP X Open WI.DE. complete bikes will be fully assembled and tuned at our facility in Portland, OR. While contactless COVID-19 local pickup will be available for those located near Portland, OR., we will also carefully ship assembled bikes globally (contact us for international rates). Bikes will be shipped in an oversized shipping container which allows for ultimate protection from shipping damage. Final assembly of the bikes will only require the front wheel to be installed, the handlebars to be rotated up and tightened down, and seatpost to be inserted and tightened down with a supplied torque wrench.
